I just finished up another Fox and the Houndstooth quilt for a customer, and before I put away the scraps, I decided to play around with the leftovers and see if I could use up some onesies in my stash.
I fused some Heat and Bond lite on the reverse side of the fabric, cut narrowly around the design, and stitched in matching pale grey thread. Usually I use a machine blanket stitch, but I like the clean, simple lines of the straight stitch in this particular case!
When I appliqué onto onesies, I use a scrap of Warm and Natural batting on the inside to stabilize for stitching, and to give a little dimension. I trim the batting close to the stitches on the reverse side.
I may or may not have gone a little crazy...these were just too fun to make, and are now listed in my Etsy shop!

ReplyDeleteThose onesies are absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou are a clever "Fox"-Haha. What a great idea! Especially to add it as a gift with a baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteThose foxes are beautifully stitched. I agree with you: the straight stitch was an excellent choice. As those foxes are different from each other, a few of them would make a great gift!
ReplyDeleteWow! It's so great to see such adorable things being made out of my fabric! Seriously adorable onesies and what a fabulous quilt!
