February Finishes!

February has been a productive month!

I have been very busy with custom orders lately. Here are a few of the recent one I haven't blogged about yet:
A baby quilt using my Mother Goose pattern in Bonnie and Camille's Ruby fabrics.
A cute patchwork quilt using a custom mix of elephant, giraffe, chevron, grey, orange, green and blue fabrics!
A twin size Aviary quilt in my Hip to Be Square pattern.
Another Vroom quilt!

And finally, I'm happy to report that I finished the quilt that my students created (originally blogged about here).

Valentine Finishes

In keeping with the colors of Valentine's Day, here are two finishes from this week (these just needed binding, so they were pretty easy to finish!)

The first is in the "Twice as Nice" fabrics collection by The Quitled Fish for Riley Blake fabrics.

The second quilt uses a combination of Ruby, Bliss and Vintage Modern, all by Bonnie and Camille for Moda fabrics:

I am loving all the pink, red and aqua!

January Finishes

I thought I would end each month this year with a collage of my finishes. It's easy to forget what got done when, so I'm hoping this will help me keep track!

My latest finish this week was a custom order Dream On quilt. I so love these fabrics, and I've managed to snag a few hard-to-find precuts on Etsy and Ebay so I can keep hoarding them!

The one thing I wish I'd bought more of when I had the chance was yardage. It's very hard to find, and it really is the perfect finish for the backing:

I was happy to find enough of the pretty pink fabric for the backing hidden in my stash, as well as the green stripe binding.

The Twelve Months of Quilting, 2013

This year, I decided to do a retrospective of many of the quilts I completed in 2013. I had lots of fun going through my photos, and playing with the Pic Collage app. Inspired by the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas", here is my "The Twelve Months of Quilting, 2013". Enjoy!

In the twelfth month of 2013, my true love gave to me..

Twelve "Hip to Be Square" quilts...

Eleven patchwork squares quilts...

Ten "Bonnie and Camille" quilts...

Nine Ahoy Matey and Vroom quilts...

Eight Kate Spain quilts...

Seven coins quilts...

Six Seuss quilts...

Five Grinch quilts..

Four "When the Stars Align" quilts...

Three Joel Dewberry quilts...

Two Martinique quilts...

And one very large T-shirt Quilt!

Yes, it has been a very busy and productive year!

Twenty-Five Quilts, Day 20

I am nearing the end of my Twenty-Five Quilts Blogging Challenge!

In case you're wondering, no, I haven't been making a quilt every day this month! However, the majority of the quilts were completed in December, so it has been a busy month of sewing!

Over Thanksgiving break, I completed several tops, one of which was this Fox Trails tumbler quilt.

I really do love this collection, especially since it's one of those rare gender-neutral fabric lines. However, I've made many, many quilts out of it, and at this point, my goal is to use up what I have left!

For the backing, I used one of the large scale camping prints. I have another Fox Trails top to quilt, but I'm short on the backing, so I may get creative and use up some additional scraps on the back!

Finish It Up Friday: Christmas in July!

One of my ten summer goals is to make some Christmas stockings using this tutorial.

This week, I finished up a set of four stockings using Kate Spain's Joy collection for Moda.

The stockings are such a great way to use up batting and fabric scraps, and they come together quickly using a quilt-as-you-go method.

I also started this set of stockings using Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille for Moda. It's fun to use non-holiday collections to match a room's decor!

My other finish this week was completing the binding on this sweet Posy quilt in a Disappearing Nine Patch pattern!

Finish it Up Friday: An Epic Finish!

I have a very BIG finish to share today!

19 days ago, I issued myself a challenge -- finish quilting the stack of flimsies (unquilted tops) before school gets out on June 21st. Considering that I had 20 unquilted tops, that was quite a tall order! (If you're counting the stack in the photo, you'll only find 19 as the 20th one has already been delivered to its new home). You can see pictures of the individual tops by reading through this month's posts. Here are the final two finishes:

Quilt #19 in Amy Butler's Midwest Modern fabric collection, using my Bricklayer pattern:

And quilt # 20, using one of the ombre fabrics in Vanessa Christensen's Simply Color collection and this tutorial.
I'm so glad I saved a small one for last -- I was counting down the stitching rows by that time!

So, what's on the agenda now? Lots of bindings, several custom orders, and a little sewing room organizing/cleaning. I'll have lots more to share on these projects in the coming days!

Finish it Up Friday

I have two finishes to share this Friday.

Oh, how I wish Moda Fabrics would consider reprinting this collection! Still one of my favorites. (Authentic by Sweetwater).

I wasn't brave enough to cut into any precuts, but I had plenty of bits and pieces to trim into 2 1/2 inch squares to make this pattern by Penny Sturges. (I chose not to add the optional zipper).

Love all the pockets on the inside!

My second finish was first blogged about here. I'm the chairperson of our guild's Block Of the Month committee, and this year we chose some beautiful Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacobs florals as the inspiration for our color scheme. We decided to go with a pale free background solid, and I love the overall palette.

It's a fairly large quilt (80 inches square), so I wasn't able to get a good picture of the entire top.

When I went to look for sashing fabrics at my local quilt shop, this stripe just called out to me.

I love the backing, too!
