Bucket List Quilt # 2

So far, I'm staying on track with my 2015 Quilty Resolution to complete 6 quilts on my bucket list (see initial post here).

My goal was to finish one quilt every two months, and I'll be sharing the second quilt today. (I completed Carnival in February and blogged about it here).

I love hexagon quilts, but I definitely prefer machine piecing, so this Juggle quilt pattern and hexagon Honeycomb precuts of Happy-Go-Lucky seemed right up my alley!

I started working on it in January, and although it was slow-going at first, once I got the hang of lining up the hexagons and triangles, the rows went together pretty quickly.

I ended up enjoying the process so much, I purchased a couple of Fig Tree honeycomb precuts, and I'm looking forward to remaking the quilt!

The back had to be this cuddly aqua minky from Hawthorne Threads. Because I love aqua minky!

I've also recently purchased two other hexagon related tools to play with -- the large Accuquilt hexagon die, and the half-hexagon template from Missouri Star . I'm looking forward to making more types of machine-sewn hexagons in the future!

  1. Great quilt!! How big are the hexies? The backing looks so cuddly soft! Do you use batting when you back with minky?

  2. I like the hexagons and triangles together in this. They look just the right size to show off your prints!

  5. Sounds like you have found your calling with the hexagons! I love minky as a backing (have just tried it for the first time myself). Good luck with the rest of your goals!
