June Finishes

Here is this month's collage of finished quilts!
As you can see, it was a very productive month in terms of quilting (blogging, not so much!)

Quilt-A-Day Challenge, Day 11

Today's quilt in my quilt-a-day blogging challenge is a leftovers quilt!

I've made two other quilts from this collection (Here Fishy Fishy by Heather Mulder Peterson). I originally bought a set of half yards for a custom order I was working on. I was able to cut a set of tumblers for one quilt, and then I made a bunch of square-in-a-square blocks out of the remainder.

This quilt is the smallest of the three I made, but it's a great size for a crib quilt or playmat (about 40" square).

Even the backing piece was a leftover from the previous two projects!

Quilt-a-Day, Day 10 (plus hiatus!)

I took a little hiatus from my Quilt a Day blogging challenge.

Last week, I was exhausted every night, and got very little quilting accomplished. I'm back on track, and hoping to finish the challenge!
Today's finish is another custom Ahoy Matey quilt.

The whale border print is getting pretty hard to find -- it's a good thing I stocked up last time I came across it!

Quilt-A-Day, Day 9

This month, I'm challenging myself to blog about a new or recent finish every day.

This one is definitely one of my favorites! I used a bunch of Amy Butler scraps to make floating nine patch blocks (inspired by this quilt).
The squares in the blocks are cut at 3 1/2 inches, and they go together pretty quickly. It was lots of fun to see this one come together!

I'm working on a similar quilt in Heather Bailey scraps, so I can't wait to share that one when it's finished!

Quilt-a-Day, Day 8

This month, I'm blogging about a new or recent finish every day!
Today's finish is a custom twin quilt with matching pillow covers in the Aviary lilac collection by Joel Dewberry. I love the way this palette looks on a white background solid!

I was running a bit low on backing fabric, so I pieced a strip of leftover fabrics and centered it on the back. I really like the way it breaks up the main backing print at bit!

More custom orders await, but the rest are smaller, thank goodness!

Quilt-A-Day, Day 7

This month, I'm blogging about a new or recent finish every day.

This custom quilt used up most of my remaining Hunky Dory stash.
I love the combination of "funky" and "sweet" in this fabric collection!

The pattern for this quilt is coming soon!

Quilt-A-Day, Day 6

This month, I've challenged myself to blog about a new or recent finish every day.

Yes, it's another custom Grinch quilt. Made in May.

I guess Grinchiness knows no season.

Quilt-A-Day, Day 5

This month, I've challenged myself to blog about a new or recent finish every day!

Today's quilt is a special gift for a friend's new grandson, using my Bricklayer pattern. The working theme was blue, green, grey, white, and animals.

I put together a selection of animal prints, and the ones chosen by the new mom went beautifully together, so all I had to do was add in a few coordinates.

I am loving the fabric combinations, so I look forward to making another quilt with the leftovers from this project!

Quilt-A-Day, Day 4

This month, I've challenged myself to blog about a new or recent finish every day. Today's quilt is a simple patchwork design of yellow and grey squares.
I love this color combo!
Lately, I've been using leftover scraps on the back for added interest whenever possible!

This one is already on its way to a new owner!

Quilt-A-Day, Day 3

This month, I'm challenging myself to blog about a new or recent finish every single day.

Several of my recent custom orders have been remakes of quilts that have previously sold. I've lost count of the number of Backyard Baby quilts (Patti Sloniger, Michael Miller Fabrics) I've made over the past two years! It is such a nice palette for a boy's room, and the fabrics have a wonderful smooth hand to them.
I still have some left in my stash, so I'm sure I will keep on making them!

Quilt-A-Day, Day 2

This month, I've challenged myself to blog about a new or recent quilt finish every single day. Today I'm sharing our guild's mystery quilt project:

Each month, we were given steps and instructions to complete, without knowing what the final product would look like. I chose some fabrics from Bonnie and Camille's "Scrumptious" collection for my project.

I chose to make mine a square lap/crib size, and omit the borders.

The finished quilt is definitely a little different than what I usually make -- I'm used to having much more fabric variety, and I'm not sure my lights and mediums had enough contrast to show off the design. However, it was an enjoyable experience, and I look forward to seeing everyone else reveal their projects at tomorrow's guild meeting. It is always a surprise to see how the pattern looks in different fabric combos!

Quilt-a-Day Challenge, Day 1

In the past year, I've issued myself two blogging/quilting challenges. In June 2013, I challenged myself to quilt a stack of 19 flimsies in 20 days (you can read about that challenge here, and see the finished stack of quilts here). In December 2013, I blogged about a recent finish every day in my "Twenty-Five Days of Quilts" series.

Well, it's time for another blogging challenge (seems to be a six-month cycle!), so this month, I'll be blogging about a recent or new finish every day. I have a lot of recently finished custom orders, and a stack of unquilted tops, so I should have plenty to show and tell over the next month!

I'm a big Joel Dewberry fan, so when a customer recently requested a twin size version of a Modern Meadow baby quilt in my store, I was happy to oblige!

I'm loving the simplicity of the half square triangle design and how the white solid lets these beautiful prints shine!

Most of the prints are from the Modern Meadow collection, but there are a couple of other Dewberry fabrics in the mix as well.

Hopefully, it will look great on its new owner's bed!
